High Moonlight – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

HM: I see myself as a safe, objective, detailing, and strategist. I know what I want and where I want to go through my music.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

HM: Since I was a kid I was connected to music … My mother owned some vinyl at home so I was always curious to know what kind of music there was on those records. In most of them it was rock, that’s where my interest came from wanting to learn to play some instrument. I started with the guitar and then I went to the electric guitar. I started with my first band when I was 16 or 17 and I did not stop.

I went to university and I graduated in Physical Education but I never left the music aside, I was always playing or composing something.

Today I’m still a teacher but I have my band called High Moonlight and I’m working hard to get on with it. So for now I’m still sharing my time between the band and the school.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

HM: My main musical influences are bands like Black Sabbath, AC / DC, Megadeth, Rainbow and Dio.
My non-musical influences are pop culture characters such as Batman, Spiderman, Thundercats and Conan.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

HM: My dream is to make my band High Moonlight become known throughout the world and my goal is to play my music in as many places as possible around the world.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

HM: All my songs are the ones I write and they talk a lot about mystical places, space adventures and conspiracy.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

HM: I promote my band through social networks like facebook, instagram, youtube and soundcloud.
It is through these social networks that I get important contacts to play on radio and book shows.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

HM: I think this makes the music lose a lot of quality and become something disposable.
This makes people consume lots of audio files but does not make people listen to a lot of music.

PD: What song do you wish you'd written and why?

HM: Rainbow Stargazer. Simply because I really like this song.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

HM: When I’m trying to teach my students something and they keep talking, that makes me very angry.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

HM: My proudest moment in music comes when I finish composing and recording some new music. I have a lot of love for what I do.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

HM: At the moment I am working on new compositions that will be part of our first official CD that will be released soon. Besides, I’m making the most of the material we have recorded so people can enjoy our songs.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

HM: At the moment we are trying to close an international mini tour and as soon as this works out you should be at our shows to enjoy together moments of great fun to the sound of a lot of quality music and high spirits.
