Hellbound Hearts – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

Danny – Troubled

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

Craig – it’s been a while settled with this or thereabouts this line up but the band goes back to 2011. Danny wanted to do his own thing after years of other bands and some pretty big names. I joined in 2014 after putting an ad out for members to join my band but we decided to get relaunch Hellbound as it was back then. We picked up Lee the drummer in 2016, did the album and toured the UK and then decided we wanted to get another guitarist in. Eddie Van Halen was busy so we got Nath instead.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Danny – Musical = Springsteen, Gallagher, Mackintosh, Fallon, Grohl

Non Musical = Izzard, HR Geiger, Geoff from Rainbow

Lee – Musical Jon Bonham and Dave Grohl

Craig – musically Zakk Wylde, Hetfield. Non musically I’d say Bill Murray. He’s ace.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

Danny – To make HH a full time concern

Craig – Sign that deal and become self sufficient through it.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

Danny – Me, general dismay at the world, life experience.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

Craig – the usual ways on the social sites and also drawing up strongly branded posters so that they are recognizable. We have a bunch of cards that we give out also, Download festival gets a heap of those every year too!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

Danny – I like the fact you can get loads of music for only a small outlay per month but this has a negative impact on the amount of money bands can make to sustain themselves and keep making music. Catch 22

Craig – I’ll still always buy a physical disk of a band I’m into though.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

Danny – The River by Springsteen because it’s faultless

Lee – Happy Birthday, right now someone in world will be singing it

Craig – probably Sad But True, must be great swaggering around a packed stadium playing that.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

Danny – People, Places and Things

Lee – Facebook business requests. No I don’t want to join your eye lash tinting, acrylic nail beauty page

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

Danny – Surviving this long and seeing HH become something people are latching onto

Craig – Agree with Danny, watching this band grow into what it is doing is awesome, makes it all worthwhile.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

Danny – Album number 2, healthy living, van conversion, dog training.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

Craig – definitely get to the next one! October 11th at Nightrain in Bradford, it’s our new EP ‘One Thirteen’ launch night! Brand new record, brand new venue, a heap of folks ready to get involved and a great support band.

And it’s close enough so we can all enjoy a drink up on a Friday night afterwards too. If this launch is anything like our Film Noir album launch then it’s one of the highlights of the calendar.
