Heavy On The Ride – Untitled

Heavy On The Ride – Untitled
29th November 2021

Swansea Three-piece Heavy On The Ride release their new track ‘Untitled’ on 29th November 2021. It’s the first new music from the Welsh experimental rockers since 2019’s Cheshire cat grin

The track sees the band in familiar territory with their almost traditional slow intro, melding into a dark, almost swaggering groove. Michael Bale’s bass charging the atmosphere, accompanied by a glorious drum rhythm by original sticksman Matthew Ham. This song oozes class. The vocals really work, sounding quite evil, quite distraught. Helped enormously by guest vocalist ‘Lethargy’s’ Phil Humphreys, they plead to know, “Will I feel at peace?” and then, after a sublime solo from Jordan Huxtable, the band desperately answer their own question “Time will tell. What, I do not know. I will follow into the unknown” The beauty of the track is in the way that it suddenly stops right after these words. The power, the desperation, the hopelessness hits hard in that brief second before re-starting to a close. Sheer magic.

The track has been around for quite some time, the bulk of it from around 10 years ago. HOTR picking it up to initially include on their soon to be finished debut album. It was recorded at The Red Walls Recording Studio in Swansea, produced by the band and mixed and mastered by Phil Humphreys.

Heavy On The Ride are set to release a rarities EP in mid December which will now include ‘Untitled’ and enter the studio (Joe’s Garage, Bristol) early next year to re-record some tracks with new drummer Jason Young and complete the debut album.
