Hail the Hatter Interview

Hail the Hatter Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD. What type of artist are you?

HTH. We are the type of artists who wake up in the morning, open the window and say “JESUS CHRIST THE SUN IS BRIGHT” close back the curtains, have a shot of rum and then begin to contemplate how we can make the world better merely by existing. Just Kidding we are struggling rock musicians lol. The rum part is true though.

PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.

HTH. Ok here goes. The band started when Jonathan our lead singer moved back home and was missing playing music. After reaching out to a mutual friend he was put in touch with our guitarist Dax Cartar. After talking briefly, they realized they both shared the same vision for modern rock music. They both found it had lost it’s raunchiness and edge in an attempt to be more sophisticated. They decided to form a band that would show that raunchiness and sophistication could live together. They quickly added Devin Harry Paul on Bass and Nicholai Assam on drums. Unfortunately after writing a few songs with the band Devin had to leave for personal reasons. Aaron Lowchewtung was added on Bass, one more song was written and we headed into the studio where and old friend Nicholas Marsan joined the band as producer and Back-up singer providing all the harmonies on the album.

PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

HTH. For each of the guys it varies. But it is safe to say those influences would include Black Sabbath, Pantera, Guns N Roses, Judas Priest and many more.

PD. What are your dreams and goals?

HTH. To crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and to hear the lamentation of their women. Oh and to play a giant stadium in front of thousands of screaming fans

PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?

HTH. It’s definitely a joint effort. As a band we sit and brainstorm the riffs and song structure. Then Jonathan takes that basic skeleton and comes up with the start of the melody and lyrics, brings it back to the band and we continue to adapt as necessary till we like what we got.

PD. How do you promote your band and shows?

HTH. Strippergrams. We have a wide network of strippers around the globe. We also use Facebook, word of mouth, Instagram, and awesome PR agents. As well as super cool interviews such as this.

PD. What do you think about downloading music online?

HTH. That’s how music is shared now. There isn’t much to say about it. What it has done though is it has made artists have to hit the road again. It’s kind of reset the industry back to the 60’s and 70’s which is kind of a cool thing. All we need now if for the radios to wake up and we can truly have another golden age of rock and roll. Once internet radio because more accessible we should be well on our way.

PD. What song do you wish you’d written and why?

HTH. FHG from Tenacious D. That’s just a stroke of genius.

PD. What are some of your pet peeves?

HTH. Raisins. Need we say more?

PD. What is your proudest moment in music?

HTH. Releasing our first EP Discovering Light. Which is now available for free download on our website www.hailthehatter.com *wink wink

PD. So what are you working on at the moment?

HTH. We recently had a pretty big show. So we took a slight breather and are getting ready to head back into the shower and start writing some new music.

PD. Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

HTH. We are currently setting up some new shows but needless to say if you are ever feeling for head banging, beer drinking, rock and roll insanity, head on over to a Hail the Hatter Show!! But in the meantime follow us on all Social media, and on our website, and please if you like our music and want to see us in your town write on our Facebook wall for all too see!
