Gypsy Pistoleros – Interview

Gypsy Pistoleros – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

GP: “The World’s Greatest Flamenco Sleaze Glam Rock ‘N’ Roll band Ever!” best described as being the ideal house band for the fictitious Titty Twister bar of Rodriguez’s From Dusk Til Dawn. Between the nods to Morricone’s tense, tumbleweed atmospheres and the Gypsy Kings’ manic Mediterranean energy, a New York Dolls raw glam spark and a surplus of prime G ’n’ R attitude

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

GP:I began singing in a punk band Regular Wretches at the age of 15,leading to a wild and crazy journey in various bands. Touring the World with The Alarm, Lords of the New Church, Theatre of Hate, U.F.O, Nazareth,  The Ramones, Motorhead, U2, Black Sabbath, and many others

The Gypsy Pistoleros i formed in 2005 , we always had a reputation for danger and played five Rocklahoma festivals 2007-11, in Oklahoma, USA , where they  appeared alongside Motley Crue, Guns n Roses, Poison, ZZ top, Twisted sister, Faster Pussycat, Vain, Papa Roach, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Black Label Society. Normally closing each night!

We have toured extensively, playing with the likes of L.A. Guns, Faster Pussycat, Adler’s Appetite, UFO, Motorhead, Ratt, Dogs D’amour, Dirty Penny, Bang tango, Wrathchild, Vains Of Jenna, Twisted Sister, Poison, Vince Neil, Bang Tango, Skid Row, Slaughter, Faster Pussycat, Dokken and ZZ Top.,

I took up acting in 2012, got a Masters degree from University of Worcester in 2018 and have appeared in around 11 films, with more to come!

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

GP: Hanoi Rocks, Lords of the New Church, the punk greats Stiff Little Fingers, The Damned The Ruts, etc. I have been lucky enough to Tour & support some great bands, that I loved! The Ramones, The Alarm, Theatre of Hate , Lords of the New Church, U.F.O, Vain, Faster Pussycat, Bang Tango, L.A Guns, it all affects your style and influences you. As a singer, i love Davy Vain

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

GP: I’m still alive and near sane now, thats pretty good! Dreams and goals would be to have a hit film and album. The new GYPSY PISTOLEROS is the band i always wanted, but could never get together due to the fact that some were in successful bands, touring, recording, etc. It is a dream line up for me.

I was in White Trash U.K with Mark Westwood (Guitar) we toured with Motorhead, he is a producer, session guitarist( Camoora, Clive Nolan, Pendragon)  & simply brilliant!  Ian Walker (Bass & B.Vox) I have been in Cry of the Innocent, The Ice Babies & the Original GYPSY PISTOLEROS with over the years, fantastic latin Bass feel/player and brilliant voice, Vinne (Jan Vincent Velazco) – Pendragon, GHOST, etc) is one of the U.K’s top session drummers, he is special & has an amazing latin rock feel & style. For the new album, I wanted to be able to compete with anyone, even the super bands! We have the songs and the band now, who knows. Back on the rollercoster!  The dream, that the new album is the latin Rock version of ‘Appetite for Destruction!’

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

GP: Me, stories about cowboys, life, tragedy, the rollercoster of life!

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

GP: Anyway i can. Through people like yourselves who champion new music. Social media, Press/ videos, touring, etc. Pimping essentially!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

GP: Pretty sad, im old school. I love vinyl, love to have it in my hand. Something special, not just a 30 second blip

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

GP: Hotel California, universal, a timeless classic!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

GP: Upcoming bands who think they are sooo special & treat people like shit? No need. Be humble & treat everyone well! Lemmy taught me that!

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

GP: The new album GYPSY PISTOLEROS ‘The Mescalito Vampires’ out next year!!! So thrilled for people to hear it! Also supporting loads of legends and the reaction from the people at Rocklahoma to us!!!

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

GP: The new album GYPSY PISTOLEROS ‘The Mescalito Vampires’ out next year on !

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
