Glytsh – Interview

Interview with Luna Blake from Glytsh and  Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

Luna Blake: Glytsh are Luna Blake (vocals) and Hella Sin (guitars). We are an all-female duo based in London, whose music mixes metal, heavy rock, dark electro and hip hop. We want to inspire and empower our listener, especially amongst young people, women and the LGBTQA+ community.

PD: Tell us a brief history of yourself.

Luna Blake: We both have a background as professional musicians and been in many bands before, which was an awesome learning experience and good preparation for Glytsh. When we met in late 2021, it felt like the timeline aligned perfectly as we both had just quit our original bands at the time and wanted to do something a bit different (and crazier)!

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

Luna Blake: We have so many. For vocals and songwriting: Nine Inch Nails, Juliette Lewis, Deftones, Rage Against The Machine, Beastie Boys, David Lynch and my cats.

Hella’s inspiration for guitar are Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against The Machine, Audioslave, Tool, Slash and Issues.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

Luna Blake: Live the craziest experiences with this project. Touring arenas all over the world.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

Luna Blake: We write everything ourselves. Luna would typically come up with a more electronic based idea and some lyrics/vocals, and Hella Sin would then add riffs, guitar layers, different parts, etc.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

Luna Blake: Social media, social media, and more social media. Did I mention social media?

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

Luna Blake: It’s 2022 and it’s perfectly fine!

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

Luna Blake: “Closer” by Nine Inch Nails so we rewrote it!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

Luna Blake: People who complain about losing the game without even playing it.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

Luna Blake: Finally believing in myself enough to dedicate my time in my own band without feeling like I need anyone else.

PD: What are you working on at the moment?

Luna Blake: Our 3rd single release and our debut live shows in the UK and US.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

Luna Blake: The usual streaming platforms!
