Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
G: Alternative Pop & Rock.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
G: One day, we were sperm. Now we are here. that’s about all we remember these days, however some have commented we jumped out of a hole in the ground one day.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
G: [Austin] Bowie, Mercury, Frank Ocean musically. other influences found in Nature & spending all day in bed with his girlfriend, Marianne.
[Evan] Stone Roses, Frusciante, Paolo Nutini. Other influences of nature and going to Wickes.
[Will] David Gilmour, Johnny Greenwood, George Harrison, Michael Kiwanuka. other influences of nature and
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
G: Music that people can respond emotionally to. creating sounds around songs, not songs around ‘a sound’.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
G: We all do. I (Will) often bulk out instrumentations and compositions but Evan often brings initial ideas to the table. Austin sings his heart out and we all cry. There is often different narratives running through each song, however our upcoming EP has focused largely on moments that have affected the band through the past 18 months or so.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
G: Social media is a large aspect of our engagement. insta @gloria_band_ is our main channel!!!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
G: It’s a pretty poor do for the artist with such tiny percentages of recoupable royalties…. think ‘Taxman’ By the Beatles. It obviously has some advantages with organic reach possibilities through playlisting, however it’s often a case of chasing the algorithmic Dragon(!)
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
G: The Pingu Theme Tune. Just something about it really.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
G: People who brew teas for less than 4 minutes.
Austin calling HAM SANDWICH MEAT.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
G: Selling out our debut show in Manchester at the Eagle Inn, too much fun!!!!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
G: EP No2, which we are beginning recording at Stonegate Studios this Christmas!
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
