FLECHETTES new single ‘WE SHALL FIND OUT’
Released 21/04/23

Flechettes announce the release of their first new music in almost a year. But don’t be fooled into thinking the Wigan quartet has been sat on their Lancashire laurels for the past 12 months because as it turns out  nothing could be further from the truth says front man Jack Heaton. “No, we’ve been working flat out! We decided to break our sound down and rebuild it, under the guidance of our management, who wanted us to find more distinction sonically. That painstaking approach took some time but we are stoked with the results.”

With a release date of April 21st 2023 the band goes back into battle with ‘We Shall Find Out’ a performance that leaves an indelible mark on the “intelligent indie” market with direct comparisons to bands such as Archive and illustrates perfectly the change in their music. Together their newly developed two part harmony manages to somehow captivate both ears independently. A vocal arrangement supplied by Jack and track writer slash bass player William Watts who takes up the story, “Jack and I have spent 2022 bouncing vocal levels against each other, so much so that it’s not just become a sonic fingerprint for the band but what I would describe as a more intelligent score.

The sharp edged guitar riffs and elaborate drums are nailed by Johnny Raper and Nicholas Kitts respectively. And for those of you who don’t know what a Flechette is, it’s described as, ‘a type of ammunition resembling a needle, used in bombs’ and this 3.30 minute masterpiece is packed with explosive interchanges between rival guitars and peer vocals. A master mix that you’ll work hard to find anywhere else. Once you’ve detonated the A side, the band takes a more melodic tone on B-side ‘Goodbye (for now)’. The lyrics on the reverse show the underlying vulnerability to which people can relate to. Johnny paraphrased “It’s the strange place one finds oneself when a long-lost love fleetingly reappears”. Yet this particular framing contrasts nicely with the title track that tells the story of anticipation and ultimately the uncertainty of everything in life.

Since forming in 2019, Flechettes have always strived to expand and develop as artists, and the band believe this single will be the first step toward a new exciting era. “We’re really lucky to be working with some amazing people behind the scenes and we cannot wait to put all these new ideas to the test and make things happen” say the band. With the right people, enthusiasm and desire for more already behind them, 2023/24 is looking to be a big year ahead for Flechettes.
