Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
Remi- I don’t lip sync…
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
Remi- Aint nothing brief about my history but I’ll leave you with this funny story. When I was young I thought that the bass sound on the Manson albums was called guitar, so when I was given my first opportunity to get an instrument I got a guitar but when I started playing it I realized I had the wrong one and traded it for a bass. The rest is history.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
Remi- These days most if not all my influences I guess come from different aspects of life. I don’t find I listen to too much music anymore.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
Remi- I gave up on dreams a long time ago I’m just the dirt that cleanse the worm.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
I do 95% of the writing and 100% of the lyrics, this band has always been a dictatorship, but since Dani Blood moved to bass, she’s been dropping some sick licks out of nowhere in the Jampot, notably to tracks like, “I Can’t Be there”, watching her play bass is sick. I guess what the songs are about is up for interpretation, I mean no one song is truly about the same thing. If I were to tell you about every song it might take away what it means for other people that have been listening to my music for a long time. I feel like for the most part it’s pretty obvious to tell what each song is about to me.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
Remi- I like to think I just play the show, but I guess that will depend on who you ask.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
Remi- Fuck that, buy the album.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Remi- That’s a dope question. I’ve never thought about it but at the same time I’m thinking about it woulda been cool to be the owner Offspring’s “gone away” or The Locust “hairspray suppository”, I dunno.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
Remi- I don’t really like to complain per se. Birds make me weak and I don’t like worms.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
Remi- Don’t know let you know when I get there.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
Remi- Currently we just finished wrapping up our second full length album “Drown my Friend”. On track to be released in the fall 2022. We’ll be back in Toronto at the Hard Luck celebrating the album release with a really interesting line up, it’s a really sick show that I’m really excited about. Some fresh faces in the alternative scene.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
Remi- Type our band name in your favourite platform and I’m sure you’ll find us, it’s that simple.
PD: Any of shows or tours you have coming up?
Remi- Yeah, we’ll be headlining Montreal Gothfest and coming back to Montreal in October to open for Aesthetic Perfection for the American Pyscho Tour, if you can you should all get tickets
