EUFOBIA – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

BLAGO: I’m an open-minded artist.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

BLAGO: I started playing drums around 20 years ago out of love of old school death metal. I started listening to metal at an early age. Music has been my biggest passion in life. I have always wanted to play in a metal band. That’s why I joined Eufobia.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

BLAGO: I started listening to metal back in 1991 when I was in second grade. A friend of mine recorded a cassette for me with Metallica’s Black Album. A few years later I found out about bands like Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Deicide, Death and fell in love with death metal. I still listen to it a lot to this day.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

BLAGO: My dreams and goals are to be able to play, record new music and perform live for as long as I can.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

BLAGO: Our guitar players Niki and Ivan usually come with riff ideas and we all start working on them together until we are satisfied with the final result. Everyone puts their own creativity and influences in the process and the final result is our own style.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

BLAGO: We promote our band mostly on social media.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

BLAGO: There are positives and negatives. If you’re using it just for convenience to check out new bands and albums, I’m fine with it, I do it myself, but if you really want to support the artist you have to buy their records either if it will be digital or CD, cassette, vinyl etc. I still buy CDs to this day. You show respect and support in what the bands are doing this way.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

BLAGO: “Weak” by Skunk Anansie. For me that’s the perfect song!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

BLAGO: One of them is slow driving.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

BLAGO: The new album “Madness” that we just released. For me it’s the best thing we’ve done as musicians since we started. As far as shows go, I would point out our gig at Wacken 2018 and opening for Cannibal Corpse for 2 shows in 2019. Both were dreams come true.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

BLAGO: Our main priority right now is the promotion of the album “Madness”, but we have also been working on new music, which we hope to record soon. We already have two complete songs and ideas for five more.

PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.

BLAGO: We’ll play a free show on the 25th of June in Sofia’s central park, will be open air, together with some young bands from the Bulgarian scene. We try to give our best every time we play live and I believe that recently we’re in the best shape as a band than ever before, so worth checking us out live. We plan to do some shows across Bulgaria in autumn and also a few shows abroad.
