En-Stigma – Interview
Interview with Vonifatios (Bass) of En-Stigma and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
V: Good evening. I play music and specifically folk instruments like bouzouki, baglama and tzoura and I also play bass
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
V: I was born and grew up in Ioannina Greece. From a young age I liked music and more specific greek folk music called rebetiko, so I started learning the bouzouki. As a teenager I was fascinated by hip hop and later metal music so I gave up the bouzouki and when I graduated highschool I started playing the bass. I loved It and I played in a good number of bands. Nowdays I run my own projects in metal and rebetiko genres which are my two favorite genres.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
V: My biggest non-musical influence would be my late father Constantine Armenopoulos, a man of many great talents and a magnificent personality. Musical influences are many of the old musicians in the rebetiko genre, and many great metal bands from many subgenres that I love to listen to
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
V: I want my music to be listened to and be understood by as many people as possible
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
V: I mainly compose the music and write some of the lyrics. My songs are mostly metaphors that explore the strength and will power of the human race and try to find what this strength can lead to if used properly
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
V: I use the means of social media and a pr company to promote my music. I try my best and hope for the best
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
V: I myself prefer spotify because it helps the artist, it is easy to access and takes a lot less space to have the songs and it just costs 7 euros a month so I prefer to drink two less coffees or one less drink and give my money there
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
V: Imhotep by Iced Earth. I love that song
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
V: Lack of logical thinking, the logic that many people have to destroy someone’s life so they can gain something, and war…i hate war
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
V: Every time I compose a new song and record it
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
V: I’ve just released the remaster of my project’s En-Stigma debut album called “Reforming the Universe” with a deluxe version too apart from the standard one and I’ve been composing new songs that are to be recorded
