Empyre announce new acoustic album ‘The Other Side’, new LIVE dates and a new single

We’ve lined up a very special evening at The Waterloo Music Bar in Blackpool on Sunday 30th May (bank holiday weekend). This is your opportunity to join us celebrating the release of ‘The Other Side’ our new acoustic album, and hear all the tracks live…There may just be the odd surprise in store too.

This is a seated and socially distanced event with table service, seats are limited.

As a newsletter subscriber you’re finding out first about this event and have a head start on tickets before the public announcement later tonight! Use the link below to secure your tickets.

The Waterloo is simply one of our favourite venues to play, with a great stage, sound and lighting setup and the team there is second to none, so don’t miss out on what we aim to make an “MTV Unplugged” style memorable evening.

This is the single cover for ‘Only Way Out (Radio Edit)’, it will be on the new acoustic album, and it’s not just a chopped up version of the ‘Piano Acoustic’ track, it’s orchestrated and arranged by Henrik, Did and musical composer and arranger Paul Cecchetti and then mixed and mastered by our new friend (and Grammy winning producer) Mike Exeter.

It’ll be released on Friday 5th March and you can pre-save/pre-add it to your Spotify, Deezer, Apple library here:

Artwork is again by the most excellent Michele Ann Art. The cover is a minimalist homage to the original cover art for the single on Self Aware.

We’ll bring more of an insight into how this version came about over the next couple of weeks. Yes, there’ll be a video and yes, it’s still based around that lovely Yamaha grand piano.

In the meantime, did we mention we have a new album coming out? (see below)

On another note, there’s more news below to check out about festivals we have lined up that have moved their dates, so take note!

Please note that SOUNDBAY FESTIVAL is now on 30th April – 2nd May 2021

More about the new album

Following acoustic performances supporting Eagles and Alter Bridge, Empyre announce ‘The Other Side’ for release on April 30th

Not only have they already performed acoustic sets at Arena Birmingham before the likes of Eagles, Shinedown and Alter Bridge, Empyre’s acoustic prowess has seen them:

Winning Classic Rock Magazine’s “Track of the Week” twice, for Only Way Out (Piano Acoustic) and Stone (Acoustic)

Featuring in Guitar World’s “Sick Riffs” series with Drive (Acoustic)

Performing for ‘Whispering’ Bob Harris’ “Under The Apple Tree” Sessions

Teaming up with Yamaha Music Europe

The Other Side totals 9 tracks, bringing together all the acoustic singles released so far along with a further 4 songs including a stirring piano based version of My Bad and a radio edit of Only Way Out with additional orchestral parts and mixed by Grammy winning producer Mike Exeter.

Lead Singer Henrik Steenholdt comments: “The first time Did and I ever met we sat down with acoustic guitars, our first band was an acoustic rock covers band playing some of our favourite tracks from the “MTV Unplugged” era, and at least half the songs on Self Aware were conceived on an acoustic guitar. This is the grassroots of Empyre and our homage to “MTV Unplugged” which is also reflected in the first two videos we released, Drive and Cut To The Core.

The affinity with our songs in an acoustic format only grew when the first opportunities to play festivals were often offers to play an acoustic set on a side stage, and therefore as people got to discover us they discovered our acoustic versions. To us The Other Side feels like a perfect pairing to Self Aware”.

Empyre continue to stand out as an inimitable musical force and this is truly reflected in their approach to forging ahead with content and releases despite the ongoing global pandemic and remaining focused and ambitious pursuing their goal of playing Europe’s biggest rock festivals.

2020 saw the band release 6 singles, 14 music videos, perform live streams, headlining and selling out numerous socially distanced shows, winning Classic Rock Magazine’s “Track of the Week” two times and teaming up with Yamaha and Guitar World. 2021 has already seen them return to the recording studio to start on the second electric album following on from the success of 2019’s Self Aware debut.
