Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
ED: Hi there, we’re ElisaDay, a symphonic-metal band.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
ED: We’ve started as a symphonic-metal band Lanewin in 2007, made a couple of albums and tours together, but then our vocalist has decided to focus on her other projects, and as she held all the rights, we chose to be ElisaDay. 🙂 We’ve found our amazing Lu and then started working as a new project back in 2013.
PD:Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
ED: There are many bands and singers which we all admire, but most of influence on our sound conception is made by Nightwish. As for non-musical influences, everyone of us has his own, so it doesn’t affect the band.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
ED: Every musical project and producer dream of being heard and his work being appreciated 🙂 Top world bands tell their stories about how their songs change people’s lives and inspire them to do great things. If we ever hear about such kind of story about our music, that would be worth dreaming of. As for the goals, working with a decent label is a fairly decent goal to plan at our level.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
ED: Ivan (keyboards) and Dmitriy (guitars) write our songs. Then Ivan and Denis (bass) arrange and orchestrate everything together. After everything is ready, Lu (vocals) starts thinking about the atmosphere of those songs to create lyrics.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
ED:Mostly manually throughout social media. That part of creativity is much harder than creating music 🙂
PD:What do you think about downloading music online?
ED: Why not? Nowadays if you don’t want to pay for listening to music, you can always find a way, legal or not, to do it for free. We prefer allowing people to listen to our music for free if they want. Anyway if someone wants to buy our songs, there are many options to do it.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
ED: Ghost Love Score. If you have listened to it, you know why.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
ED: Hmm. Probably the language of our lyrics. Russian community for some reason thinks that if you live in Russia, you have to sing in Russian. We ignore that for obvious reasons, but still some feedback appears to be irritating.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
ED: We have supported Delain and Xandria when they came to St. Petersburg, those two concerts were amazing.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
ED: We’re working on our next EP called Auftakt while searching for a label to release it.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
ED: Our songs are available on all digital platforms including Bandcamp for free listening or for purchase, it’s up to you 🙂
Thanks for your questions, we were delighted to answer them! Cheers!
