Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
Kvasth: Eldfaerd is a band that wants to tell a story both musical and lyrical. Every song is a small story and often a saga or a tale and we want the listener to dig into that world. Together with the music and the lyrics the listener can dream away for a moment.
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
Kvasth: We come from Östersund a small city in the northern regions of Sweden called Norrland. We all have played in a variety of bands mainly metal, for many years, so it comes naturally for us to create music.
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
Kvasth: Great music and the nature are a big influence and inspires to write music. I like to write about Norse mythology and other sagas and folktales.
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
Kvasth: To do what makes us happy, write music, and if we can engage people in our music and tales, it´s awesome.
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
Kvasth: For me it´s every time I have the final product in my hand after all that time invested, then I feel proud that I have accomplished something that can be heard all around the world.
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
Kvasth: Yes, the promotion I think is even more important now than ever and I´m glad that there are people that can help with that, so it become a bit easier. You need a lot of time to make proper promotion all the time. We now have Zach at MDPR helping us with that and he is doing a great job.
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?
Kvasth: We are doing that ourselves at the moment. Yes, we have some gigs in the planning in the spring with a big death metal act, but I can´t tell you more about that for now. So, stay tuned!
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
Kvasth: That´s how the world works now so you just have to adapt and try to catch on. I think it can be a good way to reach out to more people. But I like the vinyls and physical things that you can touch with your fingers.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Kvasth: Morning Palace with Dimmu Borgir. It such an epic song with a lot of elements and everybody loves it when played live.
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
Kvasth: I think it´s too much ripping off in the music industry, the big whales let the small fishes pay.
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
Kvasth: We are right now working on some music videos for the songs on our new EP and then we will start to record new songs and release them later in 2023.
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
