Eisenhauer – Interview

Eisenhauer – Interview

Interview with Christian “Waxe” Wagner (Vocals Guitar) of Eisenhauer and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

CW: Hello Pete, my name is Christian “Waxe” Wagner from the Band EISENHAUER. I am the singer and I play guitar. We play true classic Heavy Metal. Our heroically charged to the point of bursting, doomy and typically Teutonic Heavy Rock with a continuous, catchy and melodic Metal edge captivates with the seal of approval ‘Real Handmade’.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

CW: Eisenhauer has been around since 2007. Four friends who met at the beginning to play songs by Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer and Pantera and drink beer. Over time, we have worked more and more on our own songs and developed our own style. In 2012 we released our first self-produced album “Never Surrender”. With the help of friends we released the EP “Horse Of Hell” in 2015 and now our newest album “Blessed Be The Hunter” will be released on June 6th 2020. Our line-up has consisted of Christian ‘Waxe’ Wagner (vocals, guitar), Simon Bihlmayer (guitar), Thomas ‘Ase’ Aschermann (bass) and Johann Bechteler (drums) for 13 years.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

CW: Everything I hear has it´s own kind of darkness. We are children of the ’80s and are mostly on the NWOBHM, early Thrashmetal and Hardcore. I always bow down before big, dark and soulful voices like Ronnie James Dio, Glenn Danzig, Eric Wagner, Jim Morrison and Johnny Cash. In addition to music, I love historical novels e.g. by Giles Kristian and early horror literature e.g. by H.P. Lovecraft.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

CW: My dream is that as many people as possible discover Eisenhauer for themselves and listen to our music. I want people to feel good when they listen to us. Our goal is to play our songs live in front of as many people as possible.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

CW: I write all the songs and the lyrics. The theme of “Never Surrender” runs like a red thread through all our lyrics. Believe in what you do and do it with your heart. Germanic / nordic mythology, a close relationship with nature and our ancestral world also play a major role for me. I like to put new stories and topics in an old guise.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

CW: For promotion we work hand in hand with Markus Eck from Metal Message – PR. , who does an excellent job. We are announcing our live shows on Facebook.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

CW: I think it’s a form that many prefer because of its practicality. For myself, I occasionally use streaming services to discover new and old stuff. But if I like something, I also buy it as a physical record, preferably on vinyl.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

CW: There are some, ha ha ha. But “Die young” from Black Sabbath’s “Heaven and Hell” album keeps kicking me. When Ronnie starts to sing … fantastic !!! If you can write something like that, you can die happily.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

CW: Bragging, unpunctuality, unreliability.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

CW: The proudest moment so far was when I held the  freshly pressed vinyl version of our EP “Horse Of Hell” in my hands and put on the record needle for the first time.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

CW: We are currently promoting our new album “Blessed be the Hunter” which will be released on Rafchild Records in early June. In addition, I am already writing new songs.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

CW: You can find our first two releases “Never Surrender” and “Horse Of Hell” on Bandcamp and Spotify. These can also be ordered as CD or vinyl (only “Horse Of Hell”) on our Facebook page You can order the new album from June 6, 2020 directly on the website of our label
