Eden Echo – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
EE: Melodic Metal
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
EE: We are from Kelowna, BC, Canada. We’ve been around for only a couple of years, and in that time have earned the camaraderie of many bands and contributors within our energized scene. Since then we’ve released one 4-song EP entitled “Kingdom in the Shadow” and are in the process of releasing our debut LP “Hourglass”!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
EE: Music influences include bands like Mastodon, Opeth, Rush, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and more. As to non-musical influences, I couldn’t really say… Our band is composed of four very different individuals, with varied world views and interests.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
EE: We plan to become one of the great metal bands in the world, importantly, to keep the spirit of heavy metal alive and pay homage to the gods of Rock and Metal.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
EE: I write the lyrics (Matt), and we compose everything else as a team. They are about a great many things, I find it difficult to encapsulate within a sentence or two. I suppose I simply write what I feel and I find that the words take on meaning over time, where I may not be able to articulate my thoughts conversationally in a given moment, I can more easily express them poetically.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
EE: So far we’ve been promoting ourselves primarily through social media, word of mouth and thanks to the cooperative nature of our scene in Kelowna, BC.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
EE: I’m not so sure it matters what we think of it… It is the way things are and have been for a long time now, we are at peace with it.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written?
EE: Oh man I’m sure I could think of dozens of songs that I wish I’d written… having to choose one now I suppose I’d pick “Sign of the Southern Cross” by Black Sabbath.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
EE: Up till now it was the release of our first long “epic” song “Mortal Wordsmith” from our first EP. I’m confident that our proudest moment is about to be replaced by the release of our debut LP “Hourglass” at the end of this year!
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
EE: We are working on our debut LP “Hourglass”, 7 songs and we believe, a dramatic improvement from our first EP release. We can’t wait to share these songs with the world!
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
EE: Kingdom in the Shadow is currently available on ALL digital platforms! Hourglass coming at the end of 2020!
