This instrumental concept album depicts the journey of life, from the very beginning all the way to the legacy we leave behind. The 4 track record covers a sonic spectrum rarely seen within the Instrumental metal scene drawing influence from Metal, Jazz, Film, Funk, Progressive Rock as well as an insane feature from vocalist Barnaby Tomlinson. Throughout 2022 Divided by Design have been seen playing notable performances such headline shows in Leeds and Lincolnshire as well as performing for the entirely of the Edinburgh fringe festival alongside “Blóðlína – The Viking Musical”
Divided by Design are an independent duo from the United kingdom, intent on creating something unique and truly progressive. Liam Stephenson’s virtuosic guitar and otherworldly compositions blends seamlessly together with Tom Chambers’ brutal rhythm section and expertly crafted producing. Inspired by the likes of Dream Theater, Animals as Leaders and Periphery, the duo are not shy to employ the ‘prog’ spirit of early Rush and Coheed and Cambria, and use this to make something they, and others, believe is truly ground breaking. In 2020 Divided by Design released their critical acclaimed debut album “Stages to Osiris” cited by Off the Hook as “undoubtedly one of the best metal albums” and Angry Wolf Music Reviews calling it “a complex progressive masterpiece”. The band’s follow up album “Irretraceable Steps”, released in 2022, was once again meet with critical praise having Progressive Rock Central call it “an excellent, dynamic and diverse instrumental prog album.” Constant gigging and dedication to their music has allowed Divided by Design to craft a live performance level rarely seen amongst other UK based bands; with unprecedented technical mastery of their instruments along with an energy described by the likes of ‘UK Thrashers’ as being “at times brutal, at times beautiful”
