Divided by Design

Divided by Design Return with their highly anticipated second album ‘Irretraceable Steps’

Featuring catchy melodies, a fierce rhythm section and mind bending soloing. ‘Irretraceable Steps’ aims to take the established Djent sound and fuse it with a more progressive rock mentality. Inspired by the likes of Plini and Intervals, Divided by Design take singable melodies and apply them to the instrumental guitar world. After returning to the live scene in a post covid world, DBD have been seen playing notable performance such as: a northern UK tour, headline shows in Leeds and Lincolnshire as well as support slot alongside Polymath and Codices. Divided by Design have taken the past year to work on their craft as songwriters to create something fresh, catchy and truly progressive, which can be heard in their latest album “Irretraceable steps” out 18th March. Aiming to continue the forward-thinking ideas established in their previous releases “The Catalyst (EP)” and “Stages to Osiris” in which ‘Angry Wolf Music’ cited it as a “a complex progressive masterpiece”.

From chilling atmospheric soundscapes to precise and technical riffing, be prepared to be transported to new sonic worlds! Intent on creating something unique and truly progressive, the instrumental trio adopt a musical approach to match. Liam Stephenson’s virtuosic guitar seamlessly meets a brutal rhythm section consisting of Joe Messingham (Bass) and Tom Chambers (Drums). Priding themselves on a franticly energetic live show, the intensity of the experience is key for the Leeds outfit. Compositionally Inspired by the likes of Dream Theater, Animals as Leaders and Periphery, the trio are not shy to employ the ‘prog’ spirit of early Rush and Pink Floyd, and use this to make something they, and others, believe is truly ground breaking. Constant gigging and dedication to their music has allowed Divided by Design to craft a live performance level rarely seen amongst other Leeds based bands; with unprecedented technical mastery of their instruments along with an energy described by the likes of ‘UKThrashers’ as being “at timesbrutal, at times beautiful”
