Interview with Crown (Guitars) of Desperation BLVD and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
Crown. I’m an artist that put art in front of everything! No businnes calculations or compromises! I listen and take inspiration to every kind of music and art in general!
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
Crown. I began to play piano and guitar in 1989 at the age og 12. I played in a band called Revoltons for almost 30 years and it still exists now but my love for R n’ r lead me to create Desperation Blvd a sleaze rock band influenced from both the L.A bands of the 80’s and modern european bands like crashdiet and hardcore superstars!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
Crown. Guns n’ Roses, Motley Crue, Poison, Bon Jovi, La Guns, Crashdiet, Hardcore Superstars and many others.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
Crown. Our dreams and goals are going on to do what we do now, making records and touring as much as we can, hoping to get better every day!
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
Crown. Basically me and the drummer Hell. They describe in a funny way everything is wrong and bad with people and society in general. I would say we do a parody of society but without hate, in fact we make fun of ourselves too (laughs).
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
Crown. We are working with the great MARKUS ECK of Metalmessage that is doing a great job with us. We are in toucj with some booking agencies for future shows but it’s early to say now in this crazy period of lockdown.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
Crown. I think it ruined everything. Bands lose money and people has billions of discographies without knowing anything about bands. All this possibilities sometimes lead to superficial listening and bands that create masterpieces sometimes are left in the general indifference. When downloading was not possible everything was more real and all the great music was on the edge!
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
Crown. Rocket Queen (Guns n’ Roses). It’s a perfect balance of groove and feeling! R n’ r meets sweetness and drama.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
Crown. I don’t have any! I’m never at home hahha. I don’t really have any time for pet peeves even if I love my friends ones!
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
Crown. Being able to drive a van across europe and to bring my music in other countries.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
Crown. Our first Ep will be release in december and we are working on the promotional stuff with Markus. Meanwhile we are writing songs for a future release.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
Crown. Considering the covid-19 period I can’t say when but you should be there because you’ll experiment a lot of energy and fun! And we need it now in this depressive age!
