Demi the Daredevil – Interview

Demi the Daredevil – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

DTD: I suppose it’s alternative pop with some kind of gothic fantasy world twist to it.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

DTD: I was raised in El Paso, texas. Started. Playing drums in 5th grade. I started off as the drummer to demi the daredevil. The lead singer Jovan took me in, (even though I had bad acne). He later passed away and overtime I started picking up more of the songwriting  and instruments. Now I’m mostly a one man show.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

DTD: Musical influences would be: The used, Green Day, Blink 182, Fall out boy, MCR, twenty one pilots, Phil Collins, Tom Waits.. anything with good melodies. Non-musical might be JD salinger, Nietzche, Kieerkegard, Herman Hesse, Dostoevsky, Louise Hay.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

DTD:My dream is to wake up and just create things for a certain audience. My goals are to play for them live, get a piece of merch in hot topic, get songs landed in some niche tv shows… and not lose my hair.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

DTD: I try to make songs that have substance to them. Something that people can hold onto when there’s a bunch of vapid commentary floating around. It’s usually introspective emotional stuff that I keep experiencing and is part of my story.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

DTD: Mostly Instagram. And Spotify and bandsintown.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

DTD: I think Spotify kinda saved artists with streaming. The labels didn’t wanna swim with the changes so Spotify or streaming services found a way that makes it convenient to listen to music on your device while still making something off it from the ads.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

DTD: Hide and seek by Imogen heap because it has a special place in my heart from the TV show the OC, and I listened to it when I felt like dying and a dark hole and it helped.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

DTD: When people leave messages on “read” or don’t respond to you because it’s like  a one-up game of whose better or I don’t know . That’s not how friendship should be. I don’t like those games.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

DTD: Honestly I think it’s just there being fans (devilin shoutout) of what I make and seeing them reshare or comment or send emails and DMs. They really have changed the way I see myself.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

DTD: A chose your own track album called “University Series” . I wanted to do this a while ago and never did. I want it to be like a chose your own adventure thing.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

DTD: All platforms, take your pick. You can get it on iTunes or whatever digital platform ya like
