Death & Legacy – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

DAL: Hi, we are Death & Legacy a melódic death metal band from Zamora, Spain.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

DAL: Our adventure began in 2013, we had the same musical concerns and several friends decided to join and create the band. Since then after some change in the lineup, the last Chávez our vocalist Hynphernia, we have created an EP and three LPs, our last work, INFERNO, has come out this 2020 and we hope it will be to the metalheads liking.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

DAL: Our musical influences are varied, from hard rock to extreme metal, trash, death and melodic death, with bands such as Metallica, Arch Enemy, Trivium, Septic Flesh, etc. Our non-musical influences are the world and its environment, life, death and how we feel about the difficulties we face on a daily basis.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

DAL: We dream that the public likes our art and music and we would like to be able to tour this last work, INFERNO, worldwide. Even if our plan it is making everything really difficult.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

DAL: The truth is that it is a work in common most of the time, although the main contributions are from Jesus and Charly and also from Hynphernia who has written the lyrics of one of the songs from the last album. The themes of the lyrics of the songs are varied and range from the statements of a serial killer from prison, to the real experience of a woman who suffered sexist violence.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

DAL: Through social media and our management agency, campaigning strongly nationally and internationally.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

DAL: It is something that is real and that is there, the cassette tapes of the eighties is the internet now, music makes its way and must reach all possible sites like any kind of culture, is essential in our lives and as such is a valid and powerful means of its dissemination.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

DAL: Difficult choice, we could say thousands, but certainly the song that is to come, the one that we are composing and that gives us strength and enthusiasm to continue working hard, that is the song that we always want to create.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

DAL: One of the things that bothers us the most is the authorities’ treatment of metal concerts due to the pandemic, on the other hand we would also like more opportunities to be given to emerging bands by festivals

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

DAL: When by any circumstance we come together to play, whether in the rehearsal venue or at a concert, to tax a video clip or promotional photo shoot, that makes us proud and fully satisfied, that the Death & Legacy family meets is the most special thing for us.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

DAL: We are working hard to prepare the live ones and present the new album, INFERNO, which due to the pandemic we have had to postpone. Although we are also spending time continuing to compose new material. We must not stop working, and work hard so that in these harsh circumstances the band will face the future challenges, which will come, prepared to the maximum to offer the best of the live shows and in front of the fans.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

DAL: All our material is on all streaming platforms, and you can also purchase our records and all our merchandising through our official website www.deathandlegacy.com
