Dead Romantic – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

DR: We’re Dead Romantic – a Rock/Pop band based in Manchester, UK.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

DR: Ben: We’re both big music lovers as well as musicians & have a real connection to the Rock background. The music we’re making is coming naturally, it’s something we just feel. The state that the world is in has put us in a very creative position.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

DR: We’re influenced by the moments in life that fuel us creatively and give us the life to do this. Musically as a band we love big, loud guitars & huge melodies. From Mötley Crüe, 30 Seconds To Mars, Badflower to The 1975 and Michael Jackson. We think we fit somewhere between all that.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

DR: To live a happy life and create music that reaches others and helps them.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

DR: We write as a band. Mike and I have a lot of songs that we’re both really excited to work on together. We both put a lot into the writing process. For our debut single All Talk, we teamed up with our good friend Steve Diamond, multi platinum songwriter and the song came about very naturally.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

DR: As a brand new band straight outta 2020, we haven’t played any shows as of yet. But once we do, we’ll be promoting on social media and getting some cool posters made for venues!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

DR: Personally, I love the physical record or cd – but it isn’t for everyone and I appreciate that. Streaming is convenient, it opens up ways of discovering so much music too. Playlists are awesome, there’s always new music to discover and explore.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

DR: Good question… I mean there are some songs that just resonate with you throughout life and you feel close to. On that note, I’m gonna go with RAMONES – I Don’t Want To Grow Up! Haha.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

DR: I get sidetracked and so distracted easily, it’s really annoying. Sorry, what was the question?

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

DR: I mean, Mike should probably answer this one. He’s done some epic stuff in his music career, he’s played with Elton John! For me, I think the best is yet to come – we just had our first play on Kerrang! Radio the other night, we’re reaching high and mighty, hoping for big stuff to come our way in 2021!

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

DR: We’re currently writing for our first EP, due some time next year – so we have a lot of new songs we’re writing, we’re filming the brand new music video for All Talk in a few days too which is exciting!

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

DR: Our debut single ‘All Talk’ is available on all digital platforms August 14th via Mercia Records/Sony Orchard! You can find us @deadromanticband on Instagram, Facebook & other socials.
