DDE’s – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
DDE’s: A rock n roll band that writes anthemic sing along tunes as well as heart felt acoustic beauties.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
DDE’s: Me (Dan) and John started it just under 2 years ago and I put an add out on a musicians page and John answered the call. We had our original drummer as well (Jack) but he had to leave for family commitment reasons and so John works with our new drummer (Alex) Dad and it was a no brainer when we heard him play!
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
DDE’s: Noel Gallagher, Kings Of Leon, Stereophonics The Eagles These are the main influences for us and we are not a shamed to wear those influences on our sleeves. If you like a certain type of music and style then why wouldn’t you want to write songs like that, It’s a no brainer. With regards to non-musical Id have to say Bruce Lee and Rambo 😊
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
DDE’s: To be the biggest and most important band in the world right now. If we cant be that then whats the point? We want it all…everything and I know that we are good enough to get it
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
DDE’s: Me (Dan) I write all the tunes (mostly) and they are all about lots of different things really from going out and having a good time (Cherry Soul) to feeling quite lost (Old) so It really depends on where the song takes me as I’m writing it really.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
DDE’s: Just by good old social media at the minute. Its really the only way to get out to the masses with great content. We hopefully now will get some radio play which will then really help with the push on any up coming gigs we will have.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
DDE’s: It is what it is isn’t it. Its inevitable. I mean, there is nothing quite like buying a cd still, opening it, reading through the in lay notes but downloading music is just so fast and convenient isn’t it? I don’t have a problem with it but we still get cd’s made of our stuff and now are looking at getting some vinyls pressed
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
DDE’s: Great question…..It changes every day but a song that I always keep going back to is “Out in the past” by The Rifles…I don’t know what it is about that song but I never get bored of it and it just has “something” OR “English Rose” by The Jam….just one of the greatest love songs ever…beautiful but I do prefer the Weller live acoustic version.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
DDE’s: People walking slow in front of you, eating with your mouth open, dirty trainers, shit jackets and death metal
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
DDE’s: So far it’s the release of our new ep and seeing the buzz people are getting from it. Really feel proud when you get glowing reviews and praise for these little old songs that we have produced. I would put it up against anything out there now…ANYTHING.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
DDE’s: The follow up to “Calm Before the Storm” and its going to be called “Here Comes the Sun”
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
DDE’s: Our new ep as well as 6 previous stand alone singles and they are avalible across all streaming services now!
