Dark Agenda – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

DA: Our style is a mix of many different metal styles from Thrash, Groove, Nu-Metal, and more we got energetic riffs and raw powerful and melodic vocals.

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

DA: We all come from around the same area in a small town in Iowa called Anamosa.  Most of us have known each other for years and have worked on other projects together and now we’re a brotherhood thats just grown tighter and tighter.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

DA: We draw heavy influence from bands like Testament, Pantera, Type O Negative, Trivium, In Flames, Monuments, Alice in Chains, Lazarus A.D. and more As far as non-musical influences go we’d have to go with Bob Ross, Godzilla, Bruce Cambell, many fictional and nonfictional horror characters and Hulk Hogan and more

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

DA:  Our goals are to get our music out to the world and travel together and create lots of badass memories across the globe.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

DA: Myself, Joshua writes most the lyrics and it all just depends on what kind of vibe a riff gives me.  Jesse, Eddie & Dan typically supply me with riffs that I write to and they just evolve from that point.  A lot of my stuff is horror, lore, antireligion, and mental health topics.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

DA: We always do flyers and post flyers around, we do up all the typical social media events and posts. We have business cards to invite people to check out our music and so forth.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

DA: I guess its the future, this isn’t what any of us really grew up on and its definitely different.  I miss the old ways of cd’s and vinyls or even tapes. As kids we used to trade cd’s of bands we liked however everythings pretty much digital now. We’d probably have more love for it if we understood it better. However we’re getting there.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

DA: I’m sure this answer would vary between the 5 of us however if I had to pick one myself I would pick Cemetary Gates by Pantera.  That song emcompass so much of what I love about metal.  The melodic tones, the screaming guitar along with Phil harmonizing with it, to the heaviness and depth of the meaning.  Thats all stuff I love and appreciate and try to accomplish along with our music.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

DA: Egos are number one, they’re everywhere.  We’re just some regular guys doing what we love and we’re nowhere near perfect by any means.  We’re Human or Aliens who knows. We may write about controversial topics but we do have compassion so I’d also have to say disrespectful people and bro rock.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

DA: This would definitely vary amongst the 5 of us but I would have to say opening for Sumo Cyco, The Browning & Jinjer.  We played for over 600 people and the response we got was unreal.  It was truly an amazing feeling and assured us we must be doing something right.  Other noteable moments were playing with Anvil, hed (PE), Powerman5000 & Mushroomhead who were all great bands and people.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

DA: Right now we just put out our release for our song Lilith and are working on spreading that as far as we can.  We also have several other songs in the works and can’t wait to put them out there for the world to hear.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

DA: Right now we have our first self titled EP available on all major streaming sites, we have our latest release for Lilith on all of those platforms as well.
