Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
CP: Three fellas playing Alt-rock, based in Pardubice, which is the tenth biggest city in the Czech Republic. So, a pretty big deal.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
CP: Small city, 6 years ago, stinky practice room with no windows. Guitar, bass and drums. Kept jamming all the time. First album was recorded 4 months later. It is very raw. One of the reasons was the length of the recording process. This debut was made in only 7 studio hours. Before the release, the former drummer decided to leave. Persuading the new drummer wasn’t difficult, because after one jam everybody knew that this is it. Due to the fact that the reception of this album in our country was cold, we decided to try it abroad. With The Animal Fam things started to rapidly move forward. Trip to London, 4 single recorded and great label support are currently pushing the band in the right direction.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
CP: Grunge bands and music of the 90’s. But every member of this band has a different music taste so it’s hard to find the ones in common.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
CP:To tour and play for as many people as possible. We love live performances.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
CP: Our ideas come from the head of the lead singer/guitarist who brings in the riffs and we work on them together. Lyrics are mainly about women, life and so on. Also, he’s the one behind the music video ideas.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
CP: Social media and our social bubble of course alongside our connections to friends in the music business. But these days, it’s not easy to do it right. Everybody is trying to impress and lure new fans to their accounts and bases, so it’s quite a competitive environment.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
CP: It is a natural evolution that comes with new technologies. Streaming services determine what the music industry looks like. And we respect that.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
CP: Killing in the Name of by RATM. We all love it and it’s one hell of a track. On the same level is Show Me How To Live by Audioslave or By The Way from RHCP.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
CP: Using dark humour in situations, where it isn’t appropriate.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
CP: To go abroad for recording. Not many of czech bands have the opportunity to go to the UK and record there.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
CP: Our online presentation and promoting our latest music video to single “TEST”. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/kfMFhERwDfo
In our spare time, we focus on new music.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
CP: You can find our music on most streaming sites like – Youtube, Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer
