Collateral Beauty – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

CB:  In the simplest term, alternative rock

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

CB: We are just two guys from Dallas Texas, that have been playing in bands together for a number of years but after covid began and our previous project disbanded, Collateral Beauty formed. Since then we haven’t really been performing, just writing. Getting ideas out. And from it came Thirteen.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

CB: Musical influences include bands like Korn, a perfect circle, tool, nine inch nails, nothing more

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

CB: Eventually I’d like to just live in a off-grid cabin in the middle of the woods. You know. Like a hermit. As long as I had electricity and internet I could still write music, play video games and mountain bike in the woods. That just sort of sounds like heaven to me.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

CB: The lyrics are written by me, Josiah. But most songs both me and James write the music for.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

S CB: ocial media, friends, Spotify playlist curators.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

CB: I think the more accessible music is to people, the better. Music has the capability to change someone’s life. And as such it should be readily available.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

CB: Probably numb by Linkin park. It just brings me to a certain place. And it does that with not just me. There’s a reason why it has over a billion views on YouTube.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

CB: Too many to count. And frankly it would just make me feel like I was complaining.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

CB: Whenever Alt77 said “Collateral Beauty’s Thirteen feels like a dress rehearsal for a planned drowning.”

I don’t know why I’m so proud of that description. But it seems like it’s exactly what I was going for

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

CB: We are working on our next single “Alone”. Which is really not a lot like Thirteen at all. It should be released early May.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

CB: Collateral Beauty’s “Thirteen” is available on all platforms, from Apple music to Spotify, facebook to tiktok.
