Chasing Apparitions – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
CA: 2 Piece metalcore/djent band.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
CA: The metalcore outfit based out of Indiana, Chasing Apparitions, released their debut EP, entitled “The Hedonist”, back in 2016 gathering over 25,000 streams worldwide. After taking a breif hiatus, Chasing Apparitions is back with a new line-up. Featuring Josey Stines & Jacob Ortengren on instrumentals with Justin Stubbs on vocals, Chasing Apparitions recorded “Am I Worth Saving?” with Jonathan Dolese at Konkrete Studios. Throughout “Am I Worth Saving?” the band brings a breathe of fresh air to the genre with hard-hitting riffs & emotional lyrics that make you question your very existence.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
CA: Born Of Osiris. Fit For a King. Architects.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
CA: I would love to have a headlining tour that lasts about 30 days, or seeing one of our albums in a store somewhere.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
CA: Josey Stines & Jacob Ortengren handle the instrumentals. Josey & Justin Stubbs will discuss lyrics & what direction we should go, but Justin handles the majority of it.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
CA: We’re recently reformed & with COVID going on we haven’t had a chance to play any shows or do anything closely related. Typically we post & pay for ads. Print fliers. Work with other bands on the bill to try & build hype.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
CA: I think it’s a HUGE tool for any band nowadays. Spotify has absolutely changed the game for the better.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
CA: Oddly enough I really wish we wrote “Learn to Lose & It All Gets Easier” by Thousand Below. I love the vibe & feel of the song. the instrumentals. Everything. One day in the future I hope we can release an EP with the same style just to see how it turns out.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
CA: When other bands tear down on stage & slow the turnover down. When bands leave after their set, but then preach about how you need to support the local scene.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
CA: My proudest moment in music was when “The Hedonist” was printed physically. I had been in previous bands, but we never actually had anything concrete that I could hold in my hands. I’ll never forget the way that felt.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
CA: Currently we are working on finalizing our next release “Am I Worth Saving?”. It will be out early fall. Early december we will begin recording our 2021 EP. So we’re excited for that as well.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
CA: Currently we have our debut EP “The Hedonist” available wherever music is sold online. Spotify & Apple Music being our 2 biggest platforms. We also have our first single from “Am I Worth Saving?”, “As Above, So Below” available on every platform. Our next single “L’Appel Du Vide” will be out on 8.7.2020.
