CATALYSIS: The New EP “Relicta” is Finally Out!

The thrash/groove metal band CATALYSIS has finally released his new EP Relicta!

CATALYSIS returns with Relicta, their most aggressive and ambitious work to date. Hot on the heels of 2020s full length, Connection Lost, the band delivers 6 tracks of punishing groove infused thrash. With the release of Connection Lost hampered by COVID-19 and the inability to perform it live as a consequence, the band decided to push forward with new material rather than waiting for the world to return to normalcy. The result is Relicta, a punishing journey through the emotions of the last 18 months. With the world starting to open back up, CATALYSIS intends to use Relicta to make up for lost time – to get out and play as many shows as possible, to reach new audiences and to bring our name to more people than ever before.

This new EP has once again been mixed by Mendel bij de Leij (ex-Aborted), who already mixed and mastered the previous releases Catalysis (2018) and the band’s debut full-length Connection Lost (2020).

Catalysis is a 5-piece metal band from Dundee, Scotland. Formed in late 2016, the band have released 2 studio EPs; ‘Into the Unknown’ (2017), ‘Catalysis’ (2018) and their debut full-length album ‘Connection Lost’ (2020). The self-titled EP and album were mixed and mastered by Death Metal legend Mendel bij de Leij (ex-Aborted) and both received very positive reviews upon release. ‘Connection Lost’ also features guest guitar solos from Phil Demmel (Vio-Lence, ex-Machine Head) and Joey Radziwill (Sacred Reich).

Catalysis is now gearing up for the release of ‘Relicta’ on September 18 th 2021, a new 6 track EP which showcases the band’s sound better than ever before. The two main things that Catalysis strive for in sound is unrelenting aggression and stomping groove, but this isn’t all that the Catalysis sound is about. With matured song writing, the band have also delved further into its melodic elements with more memorable vocal melodies and more refined guitar solos that highlight the bands melodic development. This new EP from Catalysis has once again been mixed by Mendel bij de Leij.

As well as the bands sonic message, there’s always a deeper meaning in the lyrics of the band's music. The band often tackle topics that are important to its members and are relevant to current events, with themes surrounding climate change and human’s relationship with the natural world, how prevalent xenophobia and racism are in modern society, and the further effects of many governmental decisions around the world. The lyrics on Relicta have deviated from this, and instead covers death, loss and issues with one’s own mental health.

In 2019, the band also completed their first European tour, including a show at the Agressive Music Festival in Czech Republic.

Catalysis is a band for fans of Machine Head, Sylosis, Chimaira, Gojira, The Black Dahlia Murder etc.
