Cancer On The Rocks 2019
Pete Devine here from Pete’s Rock News and Views. Please read this important announcement from music PR legend Rick Palin. Please support this event as it is for such an amazingly deserved cause. I am sure that we have all been affected in some way or another by this horrible disease. Please make that decision to help.
We are hugely honoured that Ryan Roxie is playing Cancer On The Rocks next February I never saw that when Imagining My Reality…ok! that was a terrible line.. Even for me!
So take a look at the video and see what you are in for from your headliner on the Sunday night. Hope y’all love it as much as I do.
Just to introduce myself; I am Rick Palin, MD of Skyfire Promotions Ltd and Firebrand Radio. If you are reading this you are looking at the website for Cancer On The Rocks, a yearly music festival to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research and other charities helping the fight in the never- ending battle with this horrible disease.
Why do this?
You know why. So many of us have either suffered from cancer, or seen someone we love suffer from cancer. In 2017 I lost my father to a combined lung and spine cancer. I felt powerless as I looked after him for eight months, watching him go downhill every day. The worst blow was when he was finally admitted to hospital and it was all out of my hands, but the only thing that got me through this difficult period was the constant support of some of the bravest people I have ever met in life; Macmillan nurses.
These people go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that not only the victims, but their loved ones are looked after and prepared psychologically for the traumas that arise from cancer. Their selflessness, bravery, dedication and kindness are truly humbling.”
COTR is born
In 2018 the inaugural Cancer On The Rocks Festival fund-raiser was born. The event featured nine bands from the cream of British rock & blues talent over one day (more information will be posted in the history tab of this site). We raised £2,500 for charity, all made possible by the help of amazing friends in the worlds of media, music and tech, and YOU, the punters.
