Interview with Mike Ledet (voc) of Bushido Code and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
ML: I’m a vocalist
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
ML: Started playing music when I was 15, I’ve been in several metal/hardcore bands, sung for Spite of Opposition, Nourish the Flame, Choose your Weapon, Paid in Full and now Bushido Code. I’ve covered a lot of ground in almost 25 years.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
ML: Dr Martin Luther King Jr, Bad Brains, Testament, this band made me want to be in a band.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
ML: At 44 I’ve achieved a lot and I’ve been blessed. As funny as it sounds, one of my musical goals is to be on a tour in a tour bus. But, seriously, I’ve always wanted to write an album that would stand the test of time, one that someone would look back and say “man, that was a good one”
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
ML: Bushido writes all the songs together and I write the lyrics. In Bushido the songs are about a character but also about real life.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
ML: Via social media and our record label, other bands, we all help each other out.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
ML: I think it’s a necessary evil. As an artist, yes we would like to be paid for our work, but as a lover of music I love the accessibility of it. It’s a double edged sword.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
ML: Blackbird by the Beatles. I think it captures the best emotions in a song about losing a friend.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
ML: People having opinions about things they know nothing about
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
ML: Having someone tell me that a song I wrote impacted his life in a positive way
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
ML: The new BC album “The Ronin” in April. It is some of the best lyric work I’ve done, along with some of the best music we’ve ever written.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
ML: We have our first 2 EPS available “The Dying Virtues vol 1&2” on most formats, Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp..
