Broken Lines – New Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

BL: We don’t really fit into pigeon holes. We play music that makes us feel good, hoping it will make others feel good too!

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

BL: We are:

David Wellan – guitar, vocals, modular synth

Jack Jackson – drums, vocals, synthesizer

Mark Briscoe – bass, vocals, samplers

Formed in 2014 in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, we are a three-piece band fusing together elements from many genres to form a triumvirate of uncompromising alternative rock.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

BL: Too many to mention really but here goes; Clash, Hendrix, Pink Fairies, Stranglers, Nick Cave, Ginger Baker, New Model Army, P.J Harvey, the list goes on.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

BL: To be able to create music and share our experiences to the widest audience possible, while making a living at it simultaneously!

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

BL: We all write the songs. Each of us has a particular set of talents that make the process very easy and rewarding for us. We are a very self-contained band in that respect.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

BL: We have a very active and disciplined PR team that take care of getting the message out to as many platforms as possible, as well as all the normal channels.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

BL: Simple, if you’re broke, don’t deny yourself the pleasure of music. If you’re not, pay a fair amount for it. As long as the creatives get something in return, be it financial reward or respect, all is good.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

BL: Out of Control. Oh wait… we did! Failing that perhaps Moonage Daydream by Bowie!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

BL: Bands ripping off their fans, venues ripping off their customers and all the usual stuff like hate, social injustice etc. It’s all there in our songs, we hold nothing back.

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

BL: Standing on stage, looking around me and making eye contact with Dave and Jack! (Brik)

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

BL: We are currently working on our second album. We have a huge back-log of songs and ideas that need a lot of hard work on. We are confident that they will result in a killer album toward the end of the year.

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

BL: All our releases, including our first album “Liberation”, and our new single “Out Of Control” are available via ou BandCamp page at:
