Blood Of Us – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD:  How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?

BOU: a simple band that wants to speak our minds with our music. as easy as that.

PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.

BOU: i’ve been in about 4 bands in all kinds of styles; hard rock, alternative, punk, one cover band. Always wanted to be in a metal band, so, i had to create my own.

I’ve always listened to music (80’s & 90’s  pop/rock  has influenced me a lot). but in 2001 i had the chance to be in a band. it was the 1st time for everything, creating melodies, writing lyrics etc. From 2001 until 2005 I was in a couple of bands. But in 2016 i re-recorded some tracks from a previous band a that made me go back into making music again. I’ve spent some years trying to make music on my own, and it eventually turn into Blood of Us first record “here comes the fall”. After that I’ve just kept making music. I’ve got some more music for a 3rd record, so, watchout 2024 🙂

PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?

BOU: anything inspires me, riding my bike to work can trigger a melody that i have to record in my mobile, and after some dedicated work, turns into a song.

maybe some lyrics that just pop up in my mind. Something I read or see. I wrote the lyrics of LAST DAY (1st record) in 10 minutes. Eternal took me maybe 20 minutes. Sometimes i find the best theme for a song in a perfect time. In the opposite, forever gone” (2nd record) took me “forever”. I wrote  3 versions of that song until i found the right one.

PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?

BOU: to get our music as far as possible. I know it’s really hard but we still have some hope

PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?

BOU: i was in a band when I was young, and I got the chance to write  my first lyrics ever. We played that song live and i saw an old guy singing it (the chorus kept repeating so much i think it got stuck in his brain). I still remember that moment

PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?

BOU: well, we are that kind of artist. and yes, lot of us and such a small metal world. It’s complicated.

PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours? Any performances coming up?

BOU: we haven’t done any promotion for live shows. we still setting some things up before we get some shows.

PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?

BOU: i think streaming websites are ok, they should give out more to the artist because we are the ones that make the music, not them. Truth is, we dont have that kind of marketing power behind us. I really hope this evolves into something better for the artists.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

BOU: Anathema – Dreaming Light. it’s just an epic song from an epic band

PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?

BOU: the way bands end up payaing for everything. there’s no music industry for underground bands. we just hope to see better days or just get lucky

PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?

BOU: we are promoting the new record online and maybe on 2023  we assemble the whole band and see where it takes us.

I have some songs for our 3rd record but they are in a early stage

PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?

BOU: from our own website where you can find, info, music, videos and merch!!!
