PD: What type of artist are you?
BU: We are EDM-rock band ‘Blitz Union’ from Prague, Czech Republic.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
BU: The whole idea of starting Blitz Union was formed in 2017. It was me, Mark Blitz who put the band together, who recruited the current members – Shodushi, GØvernor and Schtorm. And it wasn’t like “I want to start a band”, but due to the unusual events, circumstances which happened to me back then, it was more like “I must start a band”.
We are already working on a suitable form, how to present the whole story, what happened to me, what made me start Blitz Union. So if you’ll be checking Blitz Union socials regularly, you’ll slowly get the answers.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
BU: We were all raised on the rock/metal bands which have been popular around year 2000, so for example Korn, Slipknot, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Limp Bizkit, Rammstein, Static-x etc. The influence of these bands is undeniably audible in our music.
But we also dig the new electronic, dance & trap wave from where we try to absorb and later implement its typical sounds to our music as well.
When it comes to the non-musical influences – We are big fans of David Lynch and Quentin Tarantino, so some kind of influence of these gentlemen might be noticeable in our overall work too.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
BU: We would love to exceed the standard “band – fan” model one day. We would like to involve people with the activity of the Union as much as possible. Gathering their stories, experiences, ideas and opinions… The lyrics would be built up from the real stories from the people. We will give credits to those (with consent) shown visually. We would also like to ask people to help us to choose our next released singles/which song to shoot the music video, and so on… This is our main goal in nutshell.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
BU: The lyrics are mostly written by me, the music is then formed by all, by a common alchemy. Our Lyrics usually highlight alarming issues that humanity faces in today’s world along with a sense of urgency, whilst providing hope and inspiration.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
BU: In addition to the standard promotion on our social media profiles, we try to focus on interaction with our fans and all people potentially interested in Blitz Union. We for example bring a “Union’s representative” on each of our live shows where he spreads the word of our Union by holding a flag and walking through the present crowd with it, or he’s giving away our paper masks so that people can be already captured as a part of our movement on photos, videos etc. There are many plans and ideas, now ‘just’ realize them.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
BU: I have never thought about it actually. It already became a standard part of today’s music distribution. Both parties – bands & listeners got used to it.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
BU: My answer is ANY new song for Blitz Union. I am always happy from the bottom of my heart when we finish a song with which every band member is fully satisfied.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
BU: I think one of our biggest pet peeves is when somebody asks us why we don’t sing in Czech language when we are from Czech Republic. That’s a classic question coming after almost every show when performing in Czechia 😀
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
BU: I think it was the way how this project was launched. We were lucky to present ‘Blitz Union’ in Los Angeles on an international music conference MUSEXPO for a very first time. There were plenty of people from the music industry from all over the world. It was a really great experience. And also we met there the founder of DREAMSTART music label/agency Manfred Muller, with whom we are currently cooperating.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
BU: Our current priority is to finish our debut album, videos and also to work on a suitable form of presentation of our story and the standards of our Union. This part must not be underestimated and needs its necessary time.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
BU: Our music is available on all standard music platforms such as Youtube, Spotify, Apple music etc. If someone would like to support our Union directly, they can take a look at our e-shop https://www.blitzunion.com/shop, where we have available for example our first EP on classic vinyl.
