Interview with Dano from Black Ink River and Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
D: Hi there! I’m Dano, the singer of the swedish rock band Black Ink River.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
D: I started my musical journey when I was 13 years young singing in a punk rock band called The Miserables, after that I was in various rock and metal bands and one of them was a progressive death metal band called GrandExit. We released some albums and toured through Europe a few times but then I got tired of it, med my wife and got a son. This was back in 2014. 2016 me and Roger (drums) started Black Ink River as a studio project wich grew into a band with ambitions. We have released two albums and are currently working on an EP.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
D: Musically my influences are modern bands like Graveyard and Blues Pills combined with the classics like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. I write all the lyrics and I draw a lot of inspiration from injustices in society and religion. I have pretty strong feelings about religion.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
D: My goal is to be able to tour as much as I want to and to write and record music with my friends in the band as long as we have songs to be written.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
D: The songwriting is a team effort but it usually starts with Bosse (guitar) or Anders (bass) bringing a killer riff to the table and we take it from there. The lyrics, as I said, are a bit on the darker side. No happy stories.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
D: Mostly through social media on a day to day basis but when we’re releasing new music the record company works with a PR-agency. I think social media is great cause you get to interact with your fans and followers.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
D: Did’nt streaming kill downloading? hehe.. I don’t really know. I think it’s cool when people buy records cause it’s part of the art of the music.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
D: I wish I’d written Graveyards Uncomfortably Numb, damn I wish I’d written the whole album Hisingen Blues cause it’s one of the best albums of all time.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
D: I tend to snore like a gigant bear when im drunk.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
D: There are some moments that im proud of and one of them was releasing our latest album Through The Unknown and getting loads of top reviews, im talking 10/10 from different magazines. Amazing feeling.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
D: We’re currently working on an EP and a music video for one of the songs on it.
PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
D: We have two albums, Headstrong and Through The Unknown, out and you can listen to it on all streaming platforms or you can buy them on CD or VINYL on Amazon for example.
