Beneath The Embers – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (

PD: What type of artist are you?

BTE: Five Piece Metalcore band

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

BTE: We’re an Essex based band hailing from Colchester. We started and released our first E.P in 2017 as a four piece and then we finally became what we are today in 2019. We’ve toured up and down the country for many years and very happy we’ve finally got an album out to show to the world.

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

BTE: We as a band have a lot of different musical influences ranging from the titans of Metallica and Iron Maiden to more modern rock and metal such as Avenged Sevenfold and Killswitch Engage.

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

BTE: It’s quite simple really ….. to have a successful career as a band and enjoy releasing and playing music for the rest of our lives. Too play Wembley Stadium would be amazing as well of course lol

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

BTE: We all play our part in writing the songs but lately Clint (Lead Guitarist) or Liam (Bassist) will start with a riff and then the dynamics and Melodies of the songs evolve from there. As the singer all the lyrics are written by myself and on our latest album ‘Condemned’ the lyrics are about my own personal experiences in life and also that of people that are close to me.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

BTE: We literally promote everywhere we can! Of course the main way to do that is online and through all of socials. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc etc etc etc

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

BTE: The pros of it are that it gives music to the consumer a lot faster because of how accessible it is and its given myself the opportunity to discover so many bands faster than I normally would have. The cons however are that it has massively impacted the CD and Musicians finds it harder to make a living because of this. It seems like you don’t necessarily earn much from streaming sites like Spotify unless you are getting millions and millions of listens.

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

BTE: For myself it’s probably got to be ‘Burn It Down’ by Avenged Sevenfold because its my favourite song from my favourite album! I’ll also add ‘All I want for Christmas is you’ by Mariah Carey because of the amount of royalties that song makes every Christmas is insane.

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

BTE: People that don’t use their indicators and people who share their entire lives on social media!

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

BTE: The release our latest album ‘Condemned’ without a shadow of a doubt.

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

BTE: We are getting ready for our tour in February with Tarja and tightening up our set for that

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

BTE: We’ve just released our new album ‘Condemned’ and new video for the song ‘Set Me Free’ from that album. You can buy the album from our website or listen to it on Spotify, Youtube Music, Amazon Music or whatever your preferred Streaming site is. The video for ‘Set Me Free’ is up on YouTube.

Thank you for your great questions!
