Bad Love – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD. What type of artist are you?
BL: We call ourselves Sadboy pop, it’s like pop – but sad.
PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.
BL: Bad Love was born from a breakup I went through, my only catharsis was really to write songs so that’s what I did. We were in a band previously and when the lads heard the new songs everyone was just really inspired by it and we kindof knew we had to do something new.
PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
BL: I’m a big fan of cinema personally, I love the escapism of it and how you can just live in another world for an hour or two.
PD. What are your dreams and goals?
BL: Just to be the biggest band in the world really, nothing major!
PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?
BL: I’m Andy, the frontman, and I write the songs. I think usually they’re about real experiences and watching other peoples lives. For me, songs are a catharsis, it’s the only way I can vent some problems and try to get to the root of what’s going on in my life. I want Bad Love to be real, not just like the tons of landfill bands that aren’t about anything, so I feel like I wear my heart on my sleeve!
PD. How do you promote your band and shows?
BL: Especially right now, social media is it really! We’ve got a mint instagram following and it’s often pretty mad to get people from all over the world messaging you about your songs.
PD. What do you think about downloading music online?
BL: Do it, go out right now and download our music!
PD. What song do you wish you’d written and why?
BL: Probably something like Yesterday by the Beatles, classics like that are timeless and there’s just something in them that touch your soul
PD. What are some of your pet peeves?
BL: Right now, people walking too close to me in the supermarket! What’s not to get about social distancing?
PD. What is your proudest moment in music?
BL: We’ve played some amazing festivals in the past, got played on Radio 1 and had some big playlist slots but I think the proudest for me was doing a sold out hometown show and just seeing the pride of my friends and family for what we’re doing, and having 400 people or so going mental too.
PD. So what are you working on at the moment?
BL: We’ve got tons of new songs in the work, i’ve got nothing better to do right now so i’m just writing! Plenty more songs coming out this year with videos, merch, more shows once we’re out of lockdown and the whole shabang
PD. What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?
BL: We’ve got two singles online right now, you can stream or download them from everywhere you’d usually use!
Thanks for the interview guys!
