Astrarot – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
A: We are a metal band from Thessaloniki, Greece.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
A: Formed in 2015, released 2 Albums “Straight from Nowhere”, “We Can’t Win”, 1 Live Album/DVD “We Can’t Win Live” and a variety of Singles. We have toured Europe, shared the stage with a big number of Important bands, such as “Biohazard”, “Suicidal Angels” and we were the first metal band to ever play at the National Greek Opera.
PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
A: Bring me the Horizon, Ministry, HIM, etc. Non-musical influences are the situations we have to deal with throughout our lives.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
A: To be able to Tell our story and be able to live our lives the way we want only by playing music.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
A: The singer, Lee and guitar player, Nick, although we all contribute. The songs are about whatever we are getting by at that time.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
A: By using every form of internet advertising, and whatever we are able to do outdoor-wise. (Posters, flyers etc) Also we make memes only we understand and barely anyone ever shares them.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
A: It’s awesome.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
A: “All of the Lights” by Kanye West, just because it’s great.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
A: Hyper-Sensitivity, Political Correctness to the point where freedom of speech disappears, laziness and when people are trying to make you change your opinion to whatever theirs is.
PD: What is your proudest moment in music?
A: They’re so many that I can’t start to name them. Let’s just say the fact that the four of us have been friends for more than 11 years, and staying and playing music together, one way or another, since then. Just getting by, helping each other and being able to achieve whatever it is and doing whatever we want since we were 13 years old, is the thing we are the most proud of.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
A: We are releasing singles, and right now we are about to hit the studio to record our next album.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
A: Next show is at Thessaloniki, 8ball Club. It’s our first time playing in our home town after our European tour. We have prepared a setlist full of new songs, anybody who’s there is about to be a part of our most honest and raw moments.
