Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: How would you describe yourself or your band as an artist?
A: We are a hard working Old School band from Buffalo. We paly fro the fun of it and play as heavy and fast as we can!!
PD: Can you tell us briefly about your background – i.e. where you’re from, how you came to make music, etc.
A: We grew up in the late 80’s esrly 90’s in Buffalo NY’s thriving Metal scene! Huge shows and legendary Fests were weekly!! Once you hear Grindcore its either in you for life or its not!! we all eat sleep and breathe Grind!!
PD: Who and what inspires you to make music, both in terms of musical and other influences? What do you like to write about in your songs?
A: The Heavyness of the songs is what drives us!! Our songs are about Shitty jobs, Stupid people, corrupt politicians, and serial killers
PD: What are your aspirations as an artist?
A: We just love to play!We hit the road pretty frequently and play as often as we can!!
PD: What is the proudest moment in your music career so far?
A: The proudest are the shows where the crowd just looses their shit from our music!!
PD: Promoting one’s music is such a challenge these days, especially with so many new artists emerging from bedrooms in the day of the home studio. How is that going?
A: It is difficult for sure. We do our best, as we all have full time jobs. CDN Records help us too, which is fantastic!
PD: And how do you book and promote your live shows and tours?
A: Any performances coming up? Our drummer has manger duties and we get asked and he hunts them down! From now until June we have 10 or so shows booked around east coast
PD: What do you think about downloading music online? What about streaming sites like Spotify?
A: I know this is a touchy situation. As an artist I think you loose out on the revenue stream because you need to get soooo many listens to get any funds. That makes recording difficut if you go in a pro studio. Merch and inhouse CD sales help of course!
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
A: Truthful if I wrote them they wouldnt be the same!! lol but it would be awesome to have a part in Mentally Murdered!!
PD: Is there anything you don’t like about the music industry, which you would change if you could?
A: I wish some promoteres would handle day of the show a bit better in terms of stage management! there have been shows where we have a 8 start time and end up not going on until 2AM!!! Poor time management for sure!!!
PD: So, what are you working on at the moment?
A: We have just been signed to CDN Records and our New Album will be Released February 24th 2023, so promoting it and playing shows!!
PD: Where can we learn more about you and buy your music/merch online?
A: Facebook, Instagram, Bandcamp, and all streaming services!
