Alien Cargo – Interview
Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)
PD: What type of artist are you?
AC: We’re a sci-fi rock band.
PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.
AC: We come from three different places in Norway, and met in Trondheim around 2015. After playing in a messier and more crowded band for a few years, we formed Alien Cargo in 2018.
PD?: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?
AC: Some of the bands we agree on are Black Sabbath, Dinosaur Jr. and Sleater-Kinney. Other influences include The Twilight Zone and the Tinder-app.
PD: What are your dreams and goals?
AC: Basically, we’d love to just keep playing together and evolve organically.
PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?
AC: The songs are mostly written by the singer/guitar player. One of his favourite techniques is to combine a fairytale with a modern phenomenon, like Peter Pan and incels.
PD: How do you promote your band and shows?
AC: We use Facebook and Instagram.
PD: What do you think about downloading music online?
AC: Do people do that anymore? It feels like streaming has pretty much erased that problem. And, sadly, created a new one.
PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?
AC: Two-Headed Sex Change by The Cramps. For the sentiment.
PD: What are some of your pet peeves?
AC: Overproduced music. Political correctness. Mustaches.
PD/: What is your proudest moment in music?
AC: We were really proud of finishing a full set of songs in just a few months.
PD: So what are you working on at the moment?
AC: The songs for the second EP! Hopefully to be recorded this spring.
PD: Tell us about your next shows and why we should be there.
AC: We’ll continue to play shows in the Trondheim area, and then widen our horizons a bit. We’re a pretty vicious power trio live, so it’s well worth checking out.
