Abi Mia – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD: What type of artist are you?

AM: I am a pop singer/songwriter who loves to relay emotion and a message in songs as well as spreading joy through music. Always try to spread positivity!

PD: Tell us the brief history of yourself.

AM: I have been singing and song writing on and off for many years – music is freedom for me! Freedom to truly express myself, be myself and to connect with others. It has grown from a hobby into something much more important – I could not live without music in my life! I am really looking forward to entertaining and bringing joy to many people with my music. I am also a personal trainer and nutrition coach – I love to keep strong and live a balanced and healthy lifestyle!

PD: Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

AM: Musically I have been influenced by so many! I love the powerful female singers such as Alicia Keys, Demi Lovato, Kelly Clarkson, Alanis Morrisette and Christina Aguilera just to name a few as there are so many. I particularly love how Alicia Keys often relays important current messages with her songs. I listen to a wide range of music though and many have influenced me – Sir Elton John, Idena Menzel, BTS, Josh Groban, Lewis Capaldi to name a few.

My non- musical influences are my friends and family – I am constantly inspired by what they accomplish and overcome on a daily basis, and it has definitely shaped the type of person and artist I am today!

PD: What are your dreams and goals?

AM: I would love to be able to perform in stadiums in front of thousands of people- the atmosphere at these shows must be phenomenal! I would love for my songs to become well known but more importantly to connect with people and give them strength and joy when listening. I would love to release many albums and be as creative as I can whilst collaborating with other musicians and producers! Always learning and always improving in my music and life in general! I would also love to be able to travel more and experience different places and cultures.

PD: Who writes your songs, what are they about?

AM: Currently I write my own songs. I just love the creative process and the expression in gives me. Most are inspired by things happening in my own life or those close to me. Current events also feed into my writing too as I love to keep my songs relatable and relevant.  I like to include positive messages where I can to uplift and empower people. For example my single ‘Fly Your Way’ is about learning the right path for you in life and to not be afraid to live it. Be yourself and be happy with that – don’t do things to just please others. Hopefully in the future I can explore working with other musicians and producers to create different styles and to learn from each other.

PD: How do you promote your band and shows?

AM: At the moment mainly through my Instagram page @abi__mia and my Youtube Channel – Abi Mia. I love to network and make connections with other musicians and people in general so we can all support each other. Also through Puffer Fish services I hope to be able to get my songs onto more radio stations for more people to hear and enjoy!

PD: What do you think about downloading music online?

AM:I think its very important to support musicians by downloading their music!

PD: What song do you wish you’d written and why?

AM: There are so many songs that I love it would be hard to say a particular one! I just look forward to writing more of my own!

PD: What are some of your pet peeves?

AM: When people are speaking and shorten too many words! Not sure why but it grates on me a little! Also when people are late as I try to always be punctual – of course people are human and its outside our control sometimes!

PD: What is your proudest moment in music?

AM: So far it was when I first sang on a stage without my voice shaking from nerves and also seeing my songs turned into full music tracks and to know I created that!

PD: So what are you working on at the moment?

AM: I am currently working on some brand new singles – hopefully this will build up to my first album! I am also starting to learn the basics of music production at home as this is a very useful skill for any musician especially these days! I continuously practice to improve my vocal and piano skills daily!

PD: What music have you available online and where can we buy it from?

AM: I currently have my debut single ‘Fly Your Way’ out on all available music platforms – here is my linktree link for all platforms -https://linktr.ee/Abimiamusic
