Sydney Pop-Rockers Release Emotive New Single ‘I.C.U’
Sydney pop-rockers 51st Avenue unveil their vulnerable new single ‘I.C.U’ featuring all the best ingredients of contemporary heavy rock, from its vibrant and uplifting synth samples, crashing anthemic choruses to intimate vocal work from Alynnis Zizza. The group bares it all to explore fear and uncertainty through brilliant lyricism and infectious melodies accompanying the lively instrumentation. Showcasing their fresh take on modern rock with pop sensibilities, ‘I.C.U.’ is a bold and fiercely addictive tune that warrants repeat listens.
Zizza on the release: “ICU is arguably our most personal and emotional track to date. Almost immediately after the band had created and completed the entire instrumental for this track, my husband went down a spiral of health scares which landed him in the Intensive Care Unit. When I wasn’t by his side, I couldn’t sleep so I found myself listening to the track on repeat and eventually finding ways to express my love and fear for my husband lyrically. It served as a way to channel all these really intense emotions. Writing ICU was basically my therapy.”
Set out to create a sonically diverse sound by infusing electronic, pop and rock genres, 51st Avenue treats listeners to catchy hooks, vibrant synths, crushing guitars & hard hitting grooves. Their latest single ‘Release’ has been garnering national coverage and airplay, including features on The Faction, Triple J, Wall Of Sound, MILKY & more.
With an EP and various singles under their belt, the band has established themselves as one of Sydney’s leading pop-rock artists and have performed alongside Hands Like Houses, Young Lions as well as their upcoming appearance with Dreamers Crime & at Winter Magic Festival. Fresh out of the studio with a plethora of innovative new material, 51st Avenue are definitely an up-coming band to keep your eyes on.
