1000 Bone Cylinder Explosion – Interview

Interview with Pete Devine of Pete’s Rock News and Views (http://petesrocknewsandviews.com)

PD. What type of artist are you?

I think steel/grass type.

ya know…because of the metal genre

….and all the weed

PD. Tell us the brief history of yourself.

-MAN.

GUITAR.

METAL.

OLD FORGOTTEN DEMOS FROM ANCIENT TIMES.  They were REMADE.

THE TRUE HEIR OF GONDOR. I PLAY GUITAR IN A BAND CALLED LÖR.  1000 BONE CYLINDER EXPLOSION IS MY SOLO PROJECT WHERE I DO WHAT I WANT.  GREG PLAYS DRUMS.

PD. Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

This is always such a tough question for me, because I’m so scattered with my music listening, and haven’t really seriously consumed much recently.  I HAVE been watching a lot of anime… so I actually believe that musically and non-musically the most honest response would be anime for both….

oooo noooooooooooooo…. what’s become of me?

PD. What are your dreams and goals?

– I want my body to physically be able to consume top ramen everyday without suffering the health consequences.  Imagine the savings not having to eat actual food!

PD. Who writes your songs, what are they about?

– I write them….and weirdly a large chunk of them are also about me writing them….huh… this is the first interview I realized that.  Well, when you have no life and write songs, I guess it makes sense you’d write about writing songs and having no life.

PD. How do you promote your band and shows?

– The internet babyyyyyyyy.  The only way to make it is to fake it…with fake views on youtube and Facebook bots who like your page.  Also Curtis Dewar from C Squared Music has been doing most of the PR for our releases.  So probably the real stuff is credited to him.

PD. What do you think about downloading music online?

– I literally never think about it.  This is just what the music world is now.  I thought more people were mad at Spotify?  Either way, I don’t know.  It doesn’t really matter at my level.  I don’t rely on this as income.

PD. What song do you wish you’d written and why?

– Kiss From A Rose by Seal.  It’s the PERFECT song.  Who doesn’t wish they wrote that?…except lame people?

PD. What are some of your pet peeves?

– when people think I’m good.  Also theres too many Magic: The Gathering products being released yearly now and I can’t keep up.  I want Wizards of the Coast to calm the hell down.

PD. What is your proudest moment in music?

– I guess discovering people liked Lör when In Forgotten Sleep came out- it was a “ahhh maybe this wasn’t a giant waste of time-at least people are into it” type of thing which I guess sounds less like pride and more like relief- but validation is nice I guess.  It’s a tough question though- I’m always hoping the next thing I do is going to be the thing I’m most proud of, but it’s easy to get burnt out on whatever that thing is by the time you complete it so it never totally feels that great at the end haha.  I just have to learn to work faster I guess.

PD. So what are you working on at the moment?

– Too many things.  The next Lör record, Top Hats and Effigies debut record, I’m writing a lot for 1000 Bone Cylinder Explosion also, and have some other fun things with friends that are in the works also.  Who knows what will come out first though.  I’m very erratic because of the workload and can’t focus on one thing for too long right now.

PD. What music have you available online and where can we buy it from
